Labor MK Ophir Pines has called for an investigation against MK Sha'ul Yahalom for saying that Yossi Beilin, Amram Mitzna and Avraham Burg might be guilty of treason and could be liable to the death penalty. Yahalom, of the National Religious Party, quoted Israel's criminal code as stating that one who does an act to cause the transfer of Israeli territory to a foreign element is guilty of treason, punishable by execution.

Beilin, Mitzna and Burg are in the midst of formulating an unauthorized agreement with Palestinian Authority officials calling for the transfer of most of Judea, Samaria and Gaza to the PA, as well as "reciprocal modifications" of the June 4, 1967 armistice lines. MK Pines says that Yahalom's statement represents "incitement to murder" the three, and that Yahalom should face criminal charges.
