The IDF is continuing its major offensive in Rafiach on the Israeli-Egyptian border. The attack, which began last night, aims at destroying the system of underground tunnels built and used by Palestinian terrorists to smuggle arms and weapons from Egypt into Gaza. Heavy exchanges of fire have been reported, and the Israeli forces were met with explosives, anti-tank fire, grenades, and light-weapons fire. At least five or six Arabs are reported dead, and one IDF soldier has been wounded. Nearby, Arab gunmen fired at IDF outposts near Gadid and N'vei Dekalim.

Lydia Silberstein, 58, of Haifa, became the 20th victim of the Maxim Restaurant terrorist massacre in Haifa five days ago. She died of her wounds last night in Rambam Hospital, and was buried this afternoon.

IDF forces destroyed the home of a 17-year-old terrorist who blew himself up at the IDF installation in Tul Karem yesterday. Two soldiers and an Arab passerby were wounded in the attack; their condition has improved.
