      Controlling E-mail Spam

      First Publish: 9/2/2003, 7:40 PM

MK Michael Eitan (Likud), chairman of the Knesset Internet subcommittee, is leading the campaign against junk e-mail. He has proposed legislation calling for a 500-shekel fine for each piece of e-junk mail sent. In addition, those who send mail to 100 addressees at once or who regularly send e-mails would be obligated to include a phone number or return e-mail address so that recipients will be able to inform the sender that they are not interested in receiving further mail.
