Five Israeli-Arabs were indicted in a Nazareth court this morning for conspiring and trying to abduct an IDF soldier. Shortly after the Arab riots of October 2000, the indictment states, they arrived at the Golani Junction in the north, and saw a soldier waiting for a ride. One of them offered the soldier a ride, which he fortuitously declined. The Arabs, who had planned to grab his weapon and throw him out of the car, quickly left the scene. They had also planned to drug their victim with sleeping pills, but it is not clear if they planned to kill him. The cell is also accused of stealing and burning a car, and throwing a firebomb at a house in Mitzpeh Netofa in the Galilee.
