First Publish: 6/27/2003, 3:19 PM

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom has appointed Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yaakov Amidror to head a new committee for the prevention of anti-Israel incitement. The committee will track hostile and inciteful publications in the foreign media, and particularly in the PA and Arab nations. It will also review the curriculum and textbooks of the PA's educational system.

Amidror, the first yarmulke-wearing Jew (aside from the former Chief Rabbis) to be appointed a Major-General, headed the National Defense Academies, served as head of the research and assessment division of IDF Military Intelligence, and was military secretary to the Minister of Defense.
