The Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigade, the military wing of Yasser Arafat's Fatah terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for yesterday's murder of Avner Maimon, 49, from Netanya. Maimon was found shot to death yesterday next to his car, outside the PA-controlled village of Ya'aved near Jenin in Samaria.

Maimon apparently drove to the town, against IDF orders prohibiting Israelis from entering PA areas, in order to purchase coal. Security officials say they warned him three times, including this week, not to enter the village - an area in which there have been terrorist shooting incidents in the past. IDF spokespersons stated again today that Israelis must not enter PA-controlled areas.

Palestinian terrorists waiting in ambush for an Israeli car to pass within their gun sights opened fire around noon today at a car carrying three women - and seriously wounded two of them. The car was traveling from Dolev to N'vei Tzuf, and the attack occurred just west of Nachaliel, northwest of Ramallah. The Al-Aksa Brigades took responsibility for this attack as well. The driver, who was wounded, managed to drive a kilometer or two from the site before having to stop. Security sources are of the opinion that the cell leaders behind this and other shootings in the area are hiding in the Mukata under the auspices of Yasser Arafat.
