Staff-Sgt. Assaf Fuchs, 21, of Kibbutz Gvat, who was killed yesterday morning during a battle with Arabs in Tzaide, was buried this afternoon in the Kibbutz Gvat cemetery. An IDF paratroopers brigade fighter, Fuchs was killed in an encounter with Palestinian terrorists ten miles east of Netanya. One of the Arabs was killed, and two others were caught and led forces to a tunnel holding large amounts of combat materials and equipment. The tunnel served as a launching base for attacks and a hideout for the terrorists.

Assaf Moshe Fuchs' middle name was given him in memory of his father's twin brother, who fell in battle during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Assaf was a good friend of Sgt. Tomer Ron, who was killed in an Arab ambush attack in Hevron on Monday night.
