The Palestinian Authority is "rewriting history as it happens" to claim that Israeli soldiers 'executed' a terrorist who committed a ramming attack which left a soldier injured last month, according to a report by Palestinian Media Watch.

Ahmed Erekat, a relative of Secretary of the PLO Executive Committee and PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, was killed while carrying out a terrorist attack at the Kiosk Border Police Checkpoint near Abu Dis in the area of Ma'aleh Adumim on June 23.

Security footage of the incident shows Erekat's vehicle slowing down as it approached the checkpoint before suddenly accelerating and turning to ram a female officer. The officer was thrown into the air by the impact and collided with the wall behind her. The terrorist was shot by other officers as soon as he exited his vehicle and died of his wounds.

Prior to the attack, Erekat recorded a video message in which he indicated his motivation for carrying out the attack. "

Of course your brother isn’t, a spy and nothing like that. I’ve never betrayed the homeland in my life... my brothers and sisters were not involved in this,” Erekat said in the video.

Saeb Erekat, ignoring the recording of the attack and the video indicating the motive, has accused Israel of executing his relative in cold blood,.

“Netanyahu bears personal responsibility for the execution in cold blood of young Ahmed, and the time has come that he be summoned to the International Criminal Court,” he said following the attack.

The official PLO Twitter account posted the video of the attack along with a caption claiming that the terrorist had been “extrajudicially executed at point-blank [range]."

The Palestinian Authority also posted a cartoon on its official Facebook page depicting the terrorist as an innocent flower cruelly shot dead by Israel.

"Demonizing Israel at every opportunity is part of PA policy. Even when a terror attack is documented clearly on video, top PA leaders will often lie by declaring that the terrorist killed by Israel was an innocent victim," Palestinian Media Watch stated.
