Representatives from the Knesset's haredi parties said Saturday that they prefer a two-year budget which will ensure that all of the funds which should reach haredi institutions will be anchored long-term, Israel Hayom reported.

However, they told members of the Likud that they do not intend to demand a two-year budget from Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud), and that they will agree to whatever is decided.

Netanyahu has said that due to the economic instability caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a +one-year budget is preferable. However, Blue and White claims to fear that Netanyahu is planning a political trick to bring down the government, and therefore prefers a two-year budget.

Sources in the Likud told Israel Hayom that Netanyahu is not planning any tricks, and is not interested in new elections.

Last week, Netanyahu and Gantz met to discuss the budget, but the two could not come to an agreement, and parted promising to continue the discussion later in the week.
