One person was killed and eleven others were injured in a collision between a bus and a private vehicle in southern Israel Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Route 40 between Shitim and the Shipazon base.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics determined the man's death at the scene and evacuated the eleven injured to Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat.

MDA paramedic Eliyahu Shariki said: "The driver of the private vehicle, a man of about 30, was trapped inside his car in the middle of the road. He was unconscious and suffering from a very serious systemic injury."

"The front section of the vehicle was completely smashed. We conducted medical tests in parallel with our extraction efforts, but he was without signs of life, and within a short time we determined his death," he said.

"The passengers were walking along the side of the road fully conscious and suffering from non-bleeding injuries. We conducted medical examinations in the MDA ambulances and evacuated them for follow-up treatment at the Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat," Shariki added.
