The Southern District Prosecutor's Office on Monday submitted an indictment to the Be'er Sheva District Court, charging two Jordanian citizens with smuggling a large quantity of weapons into Israel.

According to the indictment, the two, who are relatives, never had entrance permits to Israel, and crossed the border from Jordan approximately a week ago, near the town of Tzukim in southern Israel.

The two Jordanians infiltrated Israel, carrying three M16 rifles, two Kalashnikov rifles, sixteen pistols, and over 20 magazines.

They were arrested in Israeli territory Israel Police's Magen Unit, and the indictment charges them with both weapons crimes and infiltration.

The Prosecutor's Office has requested that the suspects remain under arrest until the completion of legal proceedings against them.
