After the New York Times published a report alleging that President Trump and his administration were aware that Russia was offering bounties on American troops but failed to take measures against Putin's regime, Fox News reported that lawmakers from across the political divide had called on the President to provide additional information on the matter.

According to the report, House Republican Conference chair Liz Cheney and staunch Trump supporter, Sen. Lindsey Graham, have asked the President to reveal information regarding the allegations. While Graham urged the administration to shed light on the matter, Cheney went one step further demanding that Trump explain why neither he nor Vice President Pence were aware of the report, if not, who did have access to it, and what steps had been taken to protect U.S. troops and "hold Putin accountable."

Other news outlets including The Washington Post and Wall Street Journal also reported on the incident. According to the NYT article, the Trump administration received news of the claims in late March, discussed possible punitive measures against Russia including sanctions and filing a diplomatic complaint, but failed to take action.

The President has denied allegations, stating that neither him nor senior members of his administration had knowledge of the matter and questioning the authenticity of the report.
