During this Shavuot (Festival of Weeks) and the Shabbat (Sabbath) that followed, approximately 15,000 worshipers attended prayer services at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

In previous years, the number had ranged between 50,000 and 70,000.

"Unfortunately, some of the worshipers due to attend pre-dawn services failed to arrive and therefore it was decided to allow to provide entrance to other individuals."

"The Western Wall Heritage Foundation wishes to thank the Israeli police for assisting us in maintaining health protection guidelines, and the worshipers for obeying these, thereby enabling public health to be maintained," read a statement by the Foundation.
