A tragedy was averted yesterday evening, when a would-be Arab suicide bomber on his way to carry out an attack in Afula, detonated his explosives prematurely killing only himself. The Arab had flagged down a car at the Um el-Fahm junction and got into the vehicle hoping to hitch a ride to the destination of his intended attack. However, seconds later the Arab’s explosive belt partially detonated killing him, and seriously injuring the driver. Police officials this morning said that the driver, an Arab from Nazareth, had no ties to the bomber. Sappers were called in to destroy the remaining explosives.

In another averted attack, soldiers noticed four suspicious Arabs near the Shomron community of Tzufin, just northeast of Kfar Saba. When the Arabs realized they had been spotted they fled leaving behind a bag contained five AK-47 assault rifles, ammunition and grenades.
