Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, responded on Saturday night to the shooting attack on a synagogue in San Diego.

"The words, the demonstrators and the cartoons turn into shootings against worshipers in synagogues. Anti-Semitism continues to raise its head and take victims. This is the time for action, for a determined war and not for weak and hollow condemnations that allow the forces of hate to revive dark periods in history," he said.

One woman was killed and three were injured in Saturday’s attack at the Chabad of Poway synagogue, located approximately 20 miles north of San Diego.

The attack occurred at just prior to 11:30 a.m. local time.

The suspect, 19-year-old John Earnest, later turned himself into police.

NBC 7 San Diego reported that Earnest released a manifesto shortly before the deadly attack, referencing the recent massacres at a pair of New Zealand Islamic centers.

Earnest claimed responsibility for an arson at an Escondido mosque a month ago. The mosque targeted in the arson is less than nine miles from the scene of Saturday’s attack.

US President Donald Trump related to the synagogue shooting near San Diego and said that the incident "looks like a hate crime."

“My deepest sympathies go to the people that were affected, the families, their loved ones,” Trump told reporters. "Obviously looks right now, based on my last conversations, looks like a hate crime. Hard to believe. Hard to believe".

"We're some doing very heavy research," the President added. "We'll see what happens, what comes up. At this moment it looks like a hate crime, but my deepest sympathies to all those affected and we'll get to the bottom of it. It looks like the person was apprehended."

Earlier Trump tweeted: "Thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the shooting at the Synagogue in Poway, California. God bless you all. Suspect apprehended. Law enforcement did outstanding job. Thank you!"
