Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is considering firing Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked from their posts, Hadashot TV reported on Saturday night.

According to the report, members of the Jewish Home party, including MK Motti Yogev, asked Netanyahu to remove the two from their positions after they left the party and formed the HaYamin HeHadash (New Right).

The Likud initially refused to comment on the report, but later declared, "The Likud has not received any request from the Jewish Home to dismiss Bennett and Shaked."

The report stated that the dilemma in firing Bennett and Shaked is that their dismissal may turn them into "martyrs". Netanyahu may also want to keep them as ministers and cabinet members to limit the scope of their campaign activities in the run up to the April elections.

"The mysterious responses of the Likud - 'we do not comment' and then the denial of the appeal from the Jewish Home - seem to indicate that this was considered very seriously," the report claimed.
