Former Secretary of Defense and CIA Director in the Obama administration Leon Panetta discussed with Galei Tzahal the US intention to withdraw forces from Syria amid recent discoveries of Hezbollah’s terror activity on Israel’s northern border.

“My view is that Hezbollah has always threatened the security of Israel, that’s been one of their goals, so it’s not surprising that the Israelis would determine that some of the recent actions by Hezbollah are aimed at the possibility of creating problems in Israel,” Panetta said.

“When I was director of the CIA and secretary of defense, we viewed Hezbollah as one of those terrorist groups that was seeking to undermine security in the Middle East, and we continued to focus on their activities.

“I’m hopeful that the US is continuing to do that.”
