Turkey: 4 dead, dozens injured in high-speed train crash

High-speed train hits another locomotive and an Ankara station overpass, which collapses. Investigation launched.

A Turkish high-speed train crashed into another locomotive and then a pedestrian overpass, killing 4 and injuring 43, according to reports.

The accident took place at Ankara's Marsandiz station, as the high-speed train made its way to the central Turkish province of Konya.

Ankara governor Vasip Sahin said that the high-speed train collided with a locomotive which carries out track inspections. In addition, he said, the overpass collapsed, hitting train cars below.

Footage from the scene shows rescuers sorting through massive amounts of debris and extricating the wounded.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the crash, according to the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
