President Reuven Rivlin visited the historic Prime Minister's Home in Tel Aviv today, at the invitation of Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot who accompanied him on his visit.

In the reconstructed building in the heart of the Templar colony of Sarona, Ben-Gurion set up his office at the end of the War of Independence, where cabinet meetings were also held. The building was renovated and re-opened in September this year and is open to visitors.

The President toured the building with the Chief of Staff and heard about the historic decisions made while the house was in operation.

"I was born nine years before the establishment of the State of Israel. This house symbolizes the establishment of the State of Israel and the establishment of the IDF," said the President, and continued with excitement: "Anyone who was born in this country, even before it was established - when he enters such a house, he travels through history and it certainly fills one with pride.

"I think every school in Israel should tour here, like the Knesset in Jerusalem and like the building where the State was declared. This is a national site," the President said, and the Chief of Staff joined the call and invited citizens of Israel to visit the important building.
