Watch: Elite search and rescue unit saves stranded hikers

Elite 669 unit steps in to save hikers after they were swept away by flash flooding in southern Israel.

On Friday afternoon, a report was received of four civilians being swept away in Wadi Og in southern Israel. An IAF helicopter of the Rolling Sword Squadron with the soldiers of the 669 elite search and rescue unit arrived at the scene in order to locate and rescue the civilians.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the 669 elite unit, along with a civilian rescue unit, rescued four civilians from the Wadi. One of the civilians was evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment while the three other civilians did not need any medical attention.

In addition, IAF helicopters with the soldiers of the 669 unit are currently operating to locate and rescue civilians that were swept away in Nahal Arod in southern Israel.
