The Cabinet Secretariat today informed ministers that the Political-Security Cabinet will convene this evening at 6 PM to discuss the northern border escalation.

Last night the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force fired about 20 rockets towards the Golan Heights forward line. In Syria it was reported the Syrian army fired surface-to-surface missiles at IDF positions in the Golan. In response, the IDF attacked more than 50 Iranian targets in Syria.

IDF Spokesman Ronen Manlis said that the attack was "the most extensive Israeli attack in decades" and that "dozens of targets of the Iranian Quds Force were attacked: Intelligence and logistics sites, encampments, weapons storage sites, forward observation posts, and more. We attacked the vehicle that fired the rockets into Israel. The Syrian army fired significant anti-aircraft volleys, and five Syrian batteries that fired dozens of anti-aircraft missiles were also attacked by the Israeli Air Force. All of our planes returned safely." Manlis added "the Iranians will take a long time to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructure."

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman also addressed the attack and said "Iran is trying to create a border with us, and we won't allow Syria to be turned into a forward base against Israel. This is the clear policy and we're working to implement it.

"The Iranians tried to attack the territory of the State of Israel, but no missile reached our territory, all of them either fell in Syria or Iron Dome intercepted them," Liberman said, adding that "we've hit almost all the Iranian infrastructure in Syria. If we get rain they'll get a deluge. I hope we've finished this chapter, so we won't have to spend nights on the 14th floor in the Kirya" IDF headquarters.
