The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, gave birth to a baby boy Monday.

Middleton was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington in the "early stages of labor" Monday morning, the royal family announced.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London earlier this morning in the early stages of labor," Kensington Palace said.

"The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."

Kesington Palace later announced that Middleton had given birth on Twitter. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs."

The child is Middileton's third. and is the younger brother of Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte 2. He is fifth in line to the British throne.
