Minister of Education Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked will advance the “overriding clause,” which enables the Knesset to override Supreme Court decisions, next week so that the Knesset can reenact the Prevention of Infiltration Law in its first version, which was effective in removing infiltrators from Israel.
At a meeting of the heads of the coalition parties next week, Bennett will demand to advance the general overriding clause in the Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty during the break in order to enable effective reenactment of the Prevention of Infiltration Law.
Alternatively, the Minister will demand that the Entry into Israel Law be amended without risking the Supreme Court's disqualification.
The proposal is that the justice minister will convene the Ministerial Committee for Legislation next week to pass the law and start the legislative process.
