Thousands of flights were cancelled across the US on Wednesday, following stormy weather.

The winter storm dubbed "Toby” by the Weather Channel began on Tuesday in the southern US, moving up the East Coast on Wednesday.

According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, 4,151 US flights were cancelled on Wednesday, with around 1,374 delays.

While stormy weather carrying winds from the Atlantic Ocean is common during East Coast winters, the latest storm may result in the coldest March on record in the US, according to the Evening Standard.
