An IDF soldier from the Duvdevan Unit was killed on Tuesday evening as a result of a discharged bullet at a military base in central Israel. The military police launched an investigation into the incident.

The head of the IDF Central Command, Major General Nadav Padan, ordered that a commission of inquiry be established to draw conclusions from the incident.

The soldier’s family has been notified of his death.

Earlier on Tuesday, a female soldier serving at an IDF training facility in southern Israel was evacuated by ambulance to a local hospital after she suddenly collapsed.

After the soldier collapsed, other members of her unit provided first aid while waiting for the arrival of an emergency medical response team. The soldier was then evacuated by ambulance to the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.

Hospital officials said the soldier had undergone emergency resuscitation techniques and had been admitted to the center's intensive care unit.
