A female soldier serving at an IDF training facility in southern Israel was evacuated by ambulance to a local hospital after she suddenly collapsed.

The incident occurred at the IDF’s Zikim training base south of the coastal city of Ashkelon on Tuesday.

After the soldier collapsed, other members of her unit provided first aid while waiting for the arrival of an emergency medical response team. The soldier was then evacuated by ambulance to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

According to an army spokesperson, the soldier is in serious condition.

Hospital officials said the soldier had undergone emergency resuscitation techniques, and had been admitted to the center's intensive care unit.

Doctors said the soldier’s condition had stabilized following her arrival at the hospital.

“At the hospital the soldier was treated by a professional team and was stabilized by the intensive care unit, and after being assessed, was transferred for continued treatment in the unit for respiratory intensive care,” a Barzilai spokesperson said.
