Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) has invited the Saudi King and Crown Prince to visit Israel, and has called on Saudi Arabia to host Prime Minister Netanyahu in Riyadh so as to advance a regional peace plan, according to Channel 10.

Channel 10 reported according to an interview published today, Wednesday, in the Saudi publication Elaph, that Katz described Saudi Arabia as “the leader of the Arab world.”

“Israel today views Saudi leadership in the region positively,” Katz said. “No other Arab country exists with the same level of power and understanding.”

He asserted that Saudi Arabia has the ability to “lead processes and make decisions for the region - as well as for the Palestinians,” and noted that he would be ready to participate in negotiations with the PA if Saudi Arabia played a determining role in the negotiations.

“[The Palestinian Arabs] are weak and unable to make decisions,” he asserted.

Katz also discussed Iran, noting that “the Iranian threat today constitutes a common threat to Israel and Saudi Arabia.”

“Israel has clear red lines, and we have emphasized several times that we will not allow an Iranian military foothold in Syria, we will not allow the transfer of missiles from Syria to Lebanon, and we will not allow the development of Iranian missile production in Lebanon,” he emphasized.
