US President Donald Trump met several times over the weekend with Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Vietnam.

After the meetings, Trump spoke about Russia's alleged involvement in the November 2016 US elections.

"He said he didn't meddle. He said he didn't meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times," Trump said. "Every time he sees me, he says, 'I didn't do that.'"

"And I believe, I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it.

"I think he is very insulted by it."

He also noted his positive relationship with Putin, even though the two have rarely met.

Speaking with journalists, Putin said described Trump as "a well-mannered person and pleasant to deal with."

"We know each other little, but the US president is highly civil in his behavior, friendly. We have a normal dialogue but unfortunately little time," he said.

Also on Saturday, Trump and Putin in a joint statement agreed that there is no military solution for the Syrian civil war.

The two called on "all parties to the Syrian conflict to take an active part in the Geneva political process," and agreed to join forces in the international war on ISIS.
