Turkish police have detained at least 100 people suspected of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) group, The Associated Press reported Friday.

Istanbul police conducted simultaneous operations at multiple districts to detain 82 foreigners, said the report, which cited Turkey's official news Anadolu agency. The suspects had allegedly been active in conflict zones with ISIS and planned on going to Syria.

Separately, Anadolu said 11 Syrian nationals were detained in the southern province of Adana for alleged links to ISIS. Seven others, whose nationalities were not revealed, were detained in western Izmir province.

The nationalities of the 82 foreigners detained in Istanbul also were not disclosed.

Turkey has been hit by several terrorist attacks carried out by ISIS over the past two years, including a New Year's Eve attack on an Istanbul nightclub this year, in which 39 people were killed by an ISIS gunman.

In the days following the Istanbul attack, Turkish police detained almost 450 suspected ISIS members around the country.

Several weeks ago, Turkey arrested 49 alleged members of the ISIS, some of whom were suspected of planning an attack on Turkish Republic Day.

Police detained more than 170 ISIS suspects in a sweep in the capital, Ankara, on Thursday, according to AP.
