Police arrested two youths from the town of Elad over the course of the weekend. The two are suspected of detaching Tzedakah (charity) boxes and stealing charity from synagogues, ritual bathhouses, and kindergartens.

The two, an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old , were arrested last Thursday night by policemen patrolling route 444. Their car, which was on the side of the road, aroused the policemen's suspicions and they conducted a search of the car which revealed numerous allegedly stolen charity boxes, as well as thousands of shekels and burglary tools. Initial investigation revealed that the two had just broken into a mikvah (ritual bathhouse) and stolen the charity boxes.

The two are also suspected of detaching numerous other charity boxes and stealing charity from synagogues, ritual bathhouses and kindergartens.

The suspects were brought to court and sent to house arrest.
