Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will undergo a periodical gastro-intestinal follow-up examination on Friday morning.

During the examination, Netanyahu will be under anesthetic for about half an hour. He will be accompanied by his personal physician, Dr. Zvi Herman Berkowitz.

Culture Minister Miri Regev will replace Netanyahu during the examination.

Last May, the prime minister underwent a medical procedure to remove kidney stones, also under anesthesia. He was replaced at that time by Environmental Protection Minister Ze'ev Elkin.

Netanyahu underwent colonoscopies in both 2014 and 2015. In 2013, he was forced to take a few days off after a hernia operation and was also briefly admitted to hospital for treatment for a sinus infection.
