A 24-year-old Israeli-Arab truck driver was arrested last week after he smashed the windshield of a bus during a dispute with the bus driver.

The argument, which quickly escalated into a full-blown case of road rage, took place at the entrance to the Israeli-Arab town of Kfar Qasim, in central Israel. The dispute centered around which of the two had the right of way when making a turn at the entrance to Kfar Qasim.

During the dispute, the truck driver, a resident of Qalansawe, north of Kfar Qasim, grabbed a metal rod and began smashing the bus’ windshield. Locals who witnessed the dispute attempted to calm the truck driver down and called on him to return to his truck, which he did after causing serious damage to the bus’ windshield.

“The incident took place last Wednesday,” a police spokesperson said. “The incident took place following an argument between two drivers, a bus driver and a truck driver, regarding the right of way. It escalated into a fight, at which point the truck driver picked up a metal rod and began smashing the bus’ windshield.”

“An investigation has been opened into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The suspect was arrested on the day of the incident and interrogated under caution, on suspicion of having intentionally causing property damage and making threats. He was brought before a judge in the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court the next day and released on bail.”
