Less than two weeks after conservative pundit Ben Shapiro spoke at UC Berkeley, with security arrangements costing approximately $600,000, the university has set yet another record in the cost of security to protect a speaker.

Conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos held a rally at UC Berkeley Sunday. Security arrangements cost $800,000.

Yiannopoulos organized his rally following the cancellation of 'Free Speech Week' at the university by student organizers of the event. He addressed approximately 150 supporters for about 15 minutes.

"It feels like probably the most expensive photo op in the university's history," UC Berkeley spokesman Dan Mogulof said of the event and the exorbitant cost of protecting it, the Mercury News reported.
