Dr. Joseph Frager spoke with New York State assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, who is the Republican nominee in the mayoral election in the city of New York.

She described the relationship between the United States and Israel as “extremely important” and added, “Israel is our most dependable ally in the Middle East. We share so many common interests, we share so many concerns, whether it be security, whether it be economic.”

“The relationship between New York and Tel Aviv, the relationship between the United States and Israel is so strong and we need to keep it that way,” said Malliotakis, who added that the Iran nuclear deal is “detrimental to both countries.”

“As someone who is of Cuban descent, I realized that President Obama was not the best negotiator, and that not only proved true with the Iran deal but it proved true in giving the store away to the Castro regime and not getting anything in return for the Cuban people,” she added.

Malliotakis stressed the importance that “elected officials, at all levels of government – city, state and federal – show support for Israel, show support for the relationship between the two, and that can’t be anymore emphasized throughout this process.”

Malliotakis, who has never been to Israel, expressed hopes that she could visit the Jewish state after the election.

“We need to continue to create partnerships where possible, because it’s important for the economic vitality of both of our cities and nations.”

“I want to wish my Jewish friends a happy new year, a healthy and prosperous year to come.”
