Orientalist Dr. Dror Manor spoke to Arutz Sheva about PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' threats to dismantle the PA and transfer authority to the PLO.

"Abu Mazen is an unstable person and you can never know if he is serious," he said, adding that he believed that he was trying to "manipulate, create pressure on the United States and Israel to extort more attainments for the PA."

According to him, Abbas understands that Kushner and Greenblatt will not supply him with the goods. "In Abu Mazen's eyes, the United States is today portrayed as weak and he does not believe that Trump's son-in-law, Kushner, who is only a young man of 37, can solve the Palestinian problem. He knows very well that it is not certain that the Palestinian issue is of any interest to the President of the United States, who is currently preoccupied with problems at home.

Dr. Manor hopes that on the morning after Abbas, Israel will not inherit anyone worse in his place. "Everyone knows that Abu Mazen is a very unhealthy person and it is reasonable to assume that sometime he will die. We should hope that Israel will get a moderate person who is ready for dialogue and cooperation, and not another insane terrorist, for exampleMarwan Barghouti."
