One person was killed and at least one injured Monday morning when a van rammed through two bus shelters in Marseille, France during two separate incidents.

Police have arrested the 35-year-old driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. Authorities say the suspect has a record of “acts of minor delinquency.”

Local authorities say the two incidents appear to have been deliberate, the Metro reported, though police have yet to confirm if they were terror-related.

“At the moment we have no information on the motives of this individual,” a police spokesperson told Reuters.

Police say the van which smashed through the bus stops was a stolen Renault Espace.

The first bus stop was rammed at approximately 8:00 a.m. local time in the Croix-Rouge district in the Old Port area of the city. An hour later, the same van was seen ramming a second bus stop in the Valentine district.

A woman waiting at the Valentine-area bus stop was killed after the van smashed through the shelter.

Security forces in Europe have been on elevated alert since last Thursday’s ramming attacks in Spain which left 14 dead in Barcelona and 1 dead in Cambrils.

Earlier on Monday, Spanish officials acknowledged that the prime suspect wanted in connection with the Barcelona attack may have fled the country across the border with France.
