Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah toured the Susita National Park in northern Israel, where the city of Hippos was established during the Hellenistic period.

The main remains that are now visible in the National Park are from the Roman and Byzantine periods. It was populated by members of Kibbutz Ein Gev during the War of Independence in 1948 and served as an IDF outpost until the Six Day War in 1967.

"We are here in Susita, a city that was built 2,200 years ago and passed through different hands. It was a Syrian outpost in the War of Independence, was conquered by the courageous Ein Gev people. Here is Ein Gev below us, the Sea of Galilee behind us," Netanyahu said.

"A wonderful country, small, but full of magnificent views and historical sites that simply leave us amazed. We're always discovering places, and we [love to] walk in [the land]."

The Prime Minister addressed the citizens of Israel and said, "Stroll around in our beautiful country, hike around, eat fish, travel, and most importantly, come home safely with the children. And don't swim at a beach without a lifeguard."
