Former minister and Likud member Gideon Sa'ar toured the Mount Hevron Regional Council today (Monday) as guest of council head Yochai Damari.

Sa'ar opened the visit at the ancient heritage site of Susya, the town where a 5th century C.E. synagogue, ritual bath and artifacts have been found. . At the end of the tour, Sa'ar attended a meeting with residents and spoke to them about current issues.

The former Education Minister said that Mount Hevron area is "an historic gem that all Israeli students deserve to visit."

Last Friday, a survey was published in Ma'ariv Weekend, which revealed that among the general public, Gideon Sa'ar is deemed the most suitable person to head the government after Netanyahu. Sa'ar wins 38 percent of the general public's vote, while among right-wingers it is Naftali Bennett who leads Sa'ar by only 1 percentage point.

As for the seating distribution, a Likud headed by Sa'ar receives one more Knessest seat than a Likud led by Netanyahu. Sa'ar succeeds in taking two seats from Moshe Kahlon (Kulanu) and five seats from Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid).
