The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against Mahmoud Abu Khadir, Abbas Salhi and Amir Ma'atuk, for a variety of security offenses, including conspiracy to commit murder, and carrying out illegal weapons transactions.

The trio, all of who were residents of eastern Jerusalem, were active members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), had a long history of throwing rocks and firebombs at Israeli vehicles, and participating in violent riots against security forces.

According to the indictment, the cell members had met on several occasions between March and June 2017 in order to plan attacks against civilians.

Among other things, the defendants planned to carry out a shooting attack against Israeli vehicles traveling on the Shechem bypass road, and to bomb passing vehicles by placing explosives on the side of the road.
