FBI agents raided the home of Paul Manafort, US President Trump’s former campaign chairman, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The agents searched Manafort's Virginia home on July 26 and seized documents and other materials related to the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The FBi had obtained a warrant to legally search the house.

Manafort had voluntarily met with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee to discuss the investigation the day before the raid.

According to the Post, the raid showed that the FBI did not believe that Manafort could be trusted to voluntarily turn over all materials related to the investigation.

Manafort served as Trump's campaign manager until he quit in August 2016.
