Likud MK Oren Hazan returned disappointed from the Allenby Border Crossing, where he was supposed to meet a Jordanian parliamentarian.

Earlier, the Jordanian MP had promised to "beat Hazan up."

However, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu forbade Hazan from participating in the duel, and the Jordanian MP himself chickened out of the match.

"As someone who always said 'yes' to peace and 'no' to violence and conflict, I was on my way to the Allenby Bridge to meet my Jordanian counterpart - a meeting which in my eyes is a bridge to reconciliation," Hazan said. "But on my way there, I was asked by Prime Minister Netanyahu not to meet him, and out of responsibility and leadership, I decided to accede to his request and not go to the bridge."

"I admit that I am a bit disappointed," Hazan said. "After all, I wanted to talk to him, to explain to him that at the end of the day, Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan. I wanted to explain that would be better for him to take his brothers and sisters - those living in Judea and Samaria, and defining themselves as 'Palestinians' - in hand, and take them back home to Jordan."

Hazan also promised to apply to Israel's Foreign Ministry to arrange an official meeting between himself and the Jordanian.

"I believe that as a resident of the Samarian city of Ariel, I understand the mentality of our Arab neighbors," Hazan said. "Thanks to my unique style, I will be able to take apart the ideological and emotional issues that this MP feels, and we will be able to reconcile our two nations."
