Minister of Communications Ayoub Kara told Arutz Sheva that there are good chances of a breakthrough on the issue of kidnapped soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul.

"As Minister of Communications, I have more authorization today to employ my connections with various countries in the region, and I am not resting for a minute so that there can be good news for the families. I believe that the distress in which Hamas finds itself will enable a breakthrough, and there are various parties mediating towards it. I called on senior officials in the world and I hope that proposals will be made to solve the issue."

Kara is a native Arabic speaker and is able to be in direct contact with Arab officials in other countries.

Kara, who knows Zehava Shaul, Oron Shaul’s mother, personally, said that he opposed deals with Hamas. "I studied with Zehava's sister-in-law in high school and the connection with them continues on to this day. We are like family. My heart breaks when I talk to Zehava, because to lose a son is to lose an entire world. But I oppose deals that give motivation to Hamas, and therefore there are other ways to operate - which I won’t go into.”

“Hamas is dependent on us and pressure can be exerted on them from all sorts of countries in the region. We need to take advantage of this period.”
