A two-year-old Haifa resident was shot in the leg on Sunday night.

His parents, residents of the city's Arab neighborhood of Wadi Nisnas, brought their son to Haifa's Rambam Hospital, where hospital staff worked to remove the bullets.

Israel Police reported that the Arab toddler is currently in the charge of Israel's welfare authorities. They suspect that the shooting was accidental and that a family member accidentally discharged the weapon.

The child's parents and siblings were detained and are being interrogated. The father is in his 40s and two older brothers are aged 18 and 26.

Israel Police are searching for the weapon.
