An attempt to smuggle cell phones to terrorists in Israeli prisons was foiled at the Gilboa Prison in the Galilee.

Security guards found three cell phones during a routine search of visitors at the prison entrance. The phones were found hidden inside a book which a mother sought to give to her son, a Hamas terrorist who was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder.

The mother was turned over to the police for questioning.

Two weeks ago, former MK Bassel Ghattas began his term in the same prison. The former Joint List MK was sentenced to two years imprisonment for smuggling cell phones to terrorists.
