Shas chairman and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri today (Monday) excoriated reform representatives who, according to him, have caused severe incitement against the haredi community in Israel and around the world.

"There is a serious incitement campaign against the haredi community and inaccurate information is being disseminated in the media," Deri said at a Shas faction meeting. "It's one big lie of people who want to dismantle the government."

Deri made it clear that the Western Wall was always open to all populations."The Western Wall is open to everyone, and the Ezrat Yisrael, which was given 20 years ago, is open to everyone, and the Prime Minister even declared that it will be renovated and expanded. Haredi party opposition was only about recognition of Reform, that's all.

"There is no other country in the world that has a Law of Return, only the State of Israel, and the Reformists want me, as Interior Minister, to recognize their conversions for the Law of Return. That's something that will never happen," he added.

Deri wondered about the criticism voiced against the haredi factions by Jewish Home ministers who refused to conform to the demand of the Haredi representatives."I would prefer they not recognize state conversions, but the court said otherwise. I am the haredi minister who supports state conversion and the national religious public attacks me? I established the Chief Rabbinate? Rabbi Kook established it," he said.
