A man and a woman in their 70s were killed this afternoon (Monday) in a serious road accident near Ogen Junction in the Hefer Valley.

The MDA team that arrived at the scene discovered the two trapped in their vehicle without vital signs, and was forced to declare their deaths upon being extracted from the vehicle.

In an accident on Route 5711, from Haniel towards Beit Halevi, another man, about 30 years old, was also lightly injured. He was treated by a MDA team.

MDA Paramedic Avi Tzafon, who arrived first at the scene of the accident, said: "This is a very serious head-on collision between a commercial vehicle and a private car. Two passengers of the private vehicle, a man and a woman in their 70s were trapped in the car unconscious, without a pulse or breathing. While we were trying to rescue them from the vehicle, we carried out a number of medical examinations, but they were dead, and within a short time their death was officially declared.

"The driver of the second car, a man of about 30, was treated at the scene, suffering light injuries," he added.
