The Commission of inquiry established to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of the late Captain Elhanan Brezler three months ago announced its conclusions today.

Captain (Res.) Elchanan Brezner died on March 21 this year after collapsing at the end of a military race in the Jordan Valley.

The committee determined that the series of preparations for the exercise was appropriate, and that there was no connection between preparations for the exercise and the death of Elchanan Belzner, since the cause of death was a heart attack.

However, the incident revealed a series of lies and inaccuracies about the exercise within the chain of command of the 417th Brigade.

After the incident, the deputy brigade commander, an officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel, was reprimanded, two officers were dismissed, and another officer may be removed from his post. The case may be transferred to the criminal court as well.

At the same time, the commander of the Air Force decided to ground the Apache helicopter system in question, as it was decided that the entire mechanism should be checked to prevent any potential incidents.
