A woman in her early 60s found dead in a hotel room in Tel Aviv Tuesday morning may have been murdered by her husband, who was found unconscious in the same room in an apparent suicide attempt.

The couple were found unconscious in a room at the Renaissance Hotel in Tel Aviv just before 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Emergency medical teams were called to the scene, but were forced to declare the woman dead at the scene.

The man, said to be roughly 70, was evacuated in serious condition to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.

According to a report by Channel 10, the initial investigation into the incident suggests the case may be criminal, and that the woman may have been murdered, rather than having committed suicide.

MDA paramedics Dor Kaufman and Rotem Argov who responded to the emergency call described the scene at the hotel room.

“When we arrived at the hotel, we were brought to one of the rooms. There we saw a woman who was not breathing and had no pulse. She had no vital signs and after a short time we were forced to declare her death.”

The two were found just days after another couple was found dead in an Eilat hotel room in an apparent double suicide. On Sunday, former haredi journalist Baruch Indig and his girlfriend, Odelia Bechar left a suicide note on the desk of their hotel room.
