Police arrested a youth in his 20s, a resident of Givat Shmuel in central Israel, suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Kiryat Ono during which he tried to cover evidence.

Earlier this week, police received a call regarding a hit-and-run during which an 8-year old boy was lightly injured and evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to suspicions, after a motorcyclist hit the child, the suspected perpetrator escaped from the scene without helping the boy, without reporting to MDA of police and without leaving personal details.

A passerby who noticed the suspect leave the scene called the police and started chasing the suspect. When he reached the suspect, he took his motorcycle keys, but the suspect continued to flee on foot, leaving the motorcycle in place.

Police opened an investigation and undertook searches to find the suspect. A short while later, the suspect arrived at the Mesubim police station in the region together with his girlfriend, and requested to file a complaint, asserting that his girlfriend’s motorcycle had been stolen.

Police investigators who identified the suspect arrested him and his girlfriend, who was released under limiting conditions after interrogation. The suspect was brought yesterday to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court and was released to house arrest under limiting conditions.
