Charges were filed in a Jerusalem district court Thursday against Waseem Dabbas, the 21-year old terrorist who attempted to stab a female police officer at the Shuafat checkpoint a week ago.

According to the indictment, last Wednesday, Dabbas, a resident of Jerusalem, left his home in Shuafat, with a 25 centimeter (10 inch) knife concealed in his pocket.

He travelled on a bus from the refugee camp until he reached the Shuafat checkpoint, where he intended to murder an Israeli security officer.

When he reached the checkpoint, he was asked to present his identification card.

Dabbas spotted a female officer securing the area standing 10 meters (33 feet) away from him. He then drew the knife from his pocket, waved it above his head, and charged the officer, intending to stab her in the neck and murder her. The officer cocked her gun and aimed it at the accused, after which he dropped the knife.
